The City of Falls Church, "The Little City", is only 2.2 square miles with a population of about 12,332. Settled in 1699 Falls Church did not become an independent city until 1948 when local parents were successful in separating from Fairfax County School system. Falls Church City Public Schools is still a nationally ranked school system.
